Hello all!

It’s been a WHILE since my last post, and for very good reasons! I am working nearly 40 hours each week on top of this wedding planning business, working out, and managing small amounts of time with friends and family. Working 8 hour shifts (minimum) is getting my little body sore! I guess that makes sense since the past two months I sat looking for jobs… not much exertion required there 😉

Anyway- I cannot complain because I need a job, enjoy this one and how fast the long shifts pass!

As I said in my last post, I was supposed to go to the Moody Gardens Festival of Lights but couldn’t! I ended up having to (surprise) work and we’re going to save it for another day/weekend. Maybe Graduation weekend? 😀 I decided the day I graduate college is a big deal and it’s going to be all mine, and since it’s so dang early(8am), I’ll have plenty of time to spend the day my way!

Instead, the Christmas things my fiance and I did this week were 1) Hang lights at his house. it’s adorable! I will absolutely take some photos. 2) Saw the 3D Jim Carrey version of a Christmas Carol.

I'm so sad I didn't like this!

Thoughts: Sadly disappointing! The first 25 minutes of the movie was previews in 3D and our eyes were feeling bizzare getting adjusted to the 3D feel of things. Then the movie was just ho-hum. After a while I was thinking “Ok they show him pointing something out but this isn’t essential to the movie.” very slow- very MEH.

Anyway- enough with my point of view on the movie- This week should be awesome because it’s the week prior to my bridal photo session with my bridesmaid! She’s an amazing photographer who took my engagements and I’m so excited that she’s going to photograph me next

week 🙂 This week, however, she will be helping me prepare my DIY birdcage veil. I’m not really a do-it-yourself kinda girl but this seems like a simple enough concept. ALTHOUGH I am in love with another style a la Ali Larter— I was completely unaware you can wear a mantilla veil like this!

I want to look like THAT walking down the aisle!

if this shot doesn’t convince you that this veil is amazing, check out what happens when you flip if back!

beautiful.....!

Something tells me I’m going to be purchasing a mantilla before the wedding date.. luckily the birdcage will be adorable and a fun alternative for the bridal portraits! I’m the kinda girl who doesn’t really care that it might not match when the day comes.. life’s too short to focus on that!

Anyway- This post took foreva and I have to go back to perusing hundreds of wedding blogs and such.

One thing food-related before I go! The other night I was craving something light and delicious for my sick tummy that had to include SABRA of course. Whilst wandering Kroger on my snack break, I found NUT-THINS. (I definitely keep typing Nut-things.. that’d be wrong) These bad boys are certainly portioned small as I demolished almost a whole bag in two sittings, but are SO.ADDICTING. Not kidding. My mom isn’t one to keep mindlessly snacking but she kept grabbing for these bad boys. I’m not a nutritional expert so I won’t pretend that the nut/rice nutritional stats are out of this world amazing (maybe they are?) but after 5 hours of running around like a crazy lady, I needed something back in my belly and these did the trick. Fanfrickintastic.

That’s all for now, I need to detox from the internet (or blog stalk. whatever.) Until next time 😀

Hello again! I decided not to wait three days again to post because I’m in the middle of enjoying a delicious (late) lunch!

Recently my fiance and I have become H-U-G-E fanatics of Paul Newman’s pasta sauces… especially italian sausage. It’s definitely worth a try if you eat meat!

I definitely stole this photo.. but Sockarooni is amazing too!

However, the yummy sauce was not my lunch today! I had a grilled hummus(Sabra- my only love)/havarti cheese sandwich on those new OraWheat thin sandwich buns!! I generally don’t like really bulky bread for sandwiches so this is perfect for me when I want to add more hummus and not feel so guilty. 🙂

Speaking of hummus- I’ve seriously tried a lot of brands but until I read about Sabra on the blog, I thought other brands reigned supreme. NOT TRUE. If you like lemon-y, creamy hummus this is seriously the brand for you to buy! There’s a restaurant in Sugar Land called Red Oak Grill- a mediterranean cafe. I went there a few weeks ago to try out their hummus….I can’t even describe how lovely this hummus was! First, the bowl was the size of what you’d put your breakfast cereal in, and it was FULL of glorious, creamy hummus. If you’re not able to go there…buy SABRA!

Topping off this amazing lunch was a small homegrown orange from my man’s family’s free! Their backyard has a tiny orange tree that produces so much, they beg me to take some home! Along with that, as the title indicates, some Newman O’s! I couldn’t find the regular with white cream so I found the chocolate filled chocolate cookies. (darn.. 🙂 ) Nomnommnomm..so far, I’ve done the whole “portion control” aka 2 cookies, but we’ll see how that fares…

On another note, I have a very good reason for why I have no new pictures on here! I lost part of the charger for my camera and honestly, I probably won’t order one for a couple of weeks. I’ve been trying to save all my money for gifts this Christmas and y’know, paying unpleasant bills and such =) EDIT: I just tried to put my memory stick in my comptuer and I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to because it won’t come out now 😦 rrgh!

Tonight I’m prepping a crock pot chili for my man! He’s been out of town in Mexico all week for work, so I can’t WAIT to see him and feed him something I made 🙂 I’m going to combine a recipe I found online, and Gina/Fitnessista’s sweet potato pot. here’s the basic recipe:

Black Bean Chili With Beef

  • 2 tablespoons bacon drippings or vegetable oil (Bacon drippings?!.. I would NEVER! I think that’ll be 2 TBSP water.)
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green peppers
  • 1/2 cup diced green chile peppers
  • 3 tbsp. tomato paste
  • 3 to 4 beef bouillon cubes, or beef base
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp. salt and pepper
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack or mild Cheddar cheese
  • 1 lb. stew beef, cubed
  • 1 can cooked black beans

Preparation:

Brown stew beef in bacon drippings or oil WATER with onion and green pepper. Combine all ingredients except cheese and cook 6 to 8 hours on low.
Serve hot in bowls with a little cheese sprinkled over each serving.
I’m going to add 2 sweet potatoes to the mix because when I read it on Gina’s site, I was shocked that you can do that– yes, I am definitely not very creative when it comes to cooking!

I get the weekend off from work until Sunday evening, so it looks like we are going to be taking a trip down to Galveston for the Festival of Lights. We went the first New Year’s we were dating and haven’t been back since.. we definitely had good memories from that! 😉 Plus, I LOVE Christmas and this is me getting to watch a 4D Christmas movie, eat a yummy Christmas feast and of course look at Christmas lights!

On that note, I’m out!

Hello everyone!

Today was my first day at my first job post-college. Let me say, it’s certainly not where I expected I would end up (Starbucks) but after searching tirelessly for “career/office jobs” I gotta say, NO ONE is hiring! I promise I have a great track record when it comes to past jobs, I’m not a criminal and I have a degree and am very pleasant in person (so  if you think I’m aa bad interviewer, I really don’t think that is it)! For whatever reason, none of those qualities were enough to land me a job. Except Starbucks. At this point in time, they got my back when I really needed something!

So after going in today, I know I’m where I should be because I LOVE the store manager! Everyone I talked to was really sweet, and talked only pleasant things about that store, and even the other new guy was cool. So, all in all, free coffee on the job, discounts and benefits… what more could THIS girl ask for?? Not much I say. Plus it is literally 7 minutes from where I’ll live in about 4 months, so those 4:30 am wake up calls won’t be so bad when I only have to get up 15 minutes before work.

After my few hours of training, me and my friend hit up HEB for some yummy goodies this week! She and I are going to our friend’s house tonight for a lady’s night in dinner. We love to get together and make crack wraps a la Mama Pea, and occasionally once we had Beef wellington. it was TO.DIE.FOR! Anyway, we’re going breakfast style tonight, with a movie and… I am actually bringing the recipe found from one of my favorite bloggers, Kristin! She always posts amazing recipes and her Peanut butter cookies filled with peanut butter sounded too good to pass up. This was a bad night for cookies as I discovered the chocolate Newman O’s today at HEB and had to sample a few 😀

Ok well sorry for the lack of pictures again. I will have my man’s camera tonight so I’ll get some of the cooking action caught on camera!

Friday seems to be a good enough day to begin a blog, yes?

Today was less about treating myself to deciding on  wedding goodies

peony bouquet

my dream bouquet

(much to my frustrated dismay) and more about… housekeeping. I’ll mention the frustration in a minute. G.D printers!

yard

Housekeeping in this instance was yard maintenance.

You see, my fiance and I do not live together. However, much of my time is spent at his home and we cook meals there, and leave trails of where we have been, as my mom would say as she guesses my dinner based on the dirty knives, bread and PB and J left out. Therefore, because I contribute to the apperance of the home nearly as much as he does, I feel that I should help out 😀 Also, cause ya know, I love him.

Anyway, all that means is that I ended up pulling weeds in just one section of the yard today. Bleh. Mushy mud and the chance of grabbing a bumble bee in the weeds was not my idea of a fun friday afternoon…or any afternoon really.

Before the gym, I thought “Hey I’ve got an hour to kill, why not set up this easy-to-install printer and see how the invitation colors appear!” (please sense my sarcasm.)

I spent a good hour doing exactly as the directions requested, only to not have a single thing print!

I was then treated to a bodyworks class at the gym which was delightfully painful. I got paired with a sweet 50-something older asian woman who defintely kept a pace with me! Way to go to all the ladies, at any age range or fitness level, who participate in these classes! I’d like to say I’m fairly active, but they still work me out and get me sweating.

Speaking of- Anyone out there take a class at the gym where it’s mostly repetitive lifting (think a 3 minute song workout where you are doing shoulder presses in this manner: up 3, down for 1, up for 4, down for 4, etc.) When I’ve been doing a lot of squatting during this exercise, I occasionally feel as though I’m about to black out. What’s the deal?!

Anyway, to top the day off, I spent the night in watching some DVR’d shows with my main squeeze, so I suppose I  can’t complain too much.

Now onto my current job: watching several small children at a church for a few hours before waking up to do it again tomorrow. . . a coffee stop will definitely occur before then.

Adios and thanks for stopping by!
